What makes the Ford AC better than on our Mega Cab's?
I got in my fairly recently purchased truck today and it was a whopping 87, which is pretty hot for this time of year. Needless to say I found out quickly what so many people on here have been complaining about for so long. The AC system is horrible! I have heard it said before and have experienced it for myself that the Ford's have way better AC. Does anyone out there know what is the weak part of our system? If it's a compressor then I'm sure there's a way to mod a better compressor to the engine. The same for a blower. The Ford Crewcab's are quite large but cool efficiently. I'm willing to do almost anything because I love my truck and want to keep it. As for Dodge, I'm not willing to wait on them. It may take forever. If anyone has any positive ideas or thoughts please chime in so we can try and fix this thing.

Yeah my AC works good too. 100 deg days last summer and it did good. Check the pressure
I am one of the few around here that likes Ford but I have never thought the AC was all that great...
All my GM vehicles seem to have had the best AC...

I have seen in other posts that if you shut the back A/c off the front works better. Your other option is to recharge it with synthetic R134. When my old 94 blew the compressor I recharged it with the Polar bear synthetic (grey can with a polar on the front-Auto Zone) I thought my old a/c cranked. You know your fingers start to hurt cold. Well my fingers started freezing right away with the new stuff in it. So maybe give it a try. I don't see an easy fix right away for the mega cabs a/c. Unless you wait for a redesign and buy a new truck. Or buy a $40 can of r134

Take it in and have the dealership top up the refridgerant.
Like all the other fliuds on numerous 3rd Gens it is more then likely low.
I dont recommend that you use other then dealer or certified shop to top it up either. Warrenty will be voided.

top it up???? Its not a gas tank or the windsheild washer fluid. Putting more in will only hurt the system and make it blow warmer. You have to keep to certain pressures. Synthetic is the way to go

I've had an '01 Powerstroke Cab-and-a-half and a '05 F-150 Super Crew. I think that the Dodge I have now has a much, much better air conditioner than either Ford.... Just my ten cents. I agree with the above -- I'd have the dealer check it out.

Yes they can be "topped up" pressure need's to be check yes but as system age's it will lose refrigerant over time some times up to 10-15% a year. This is a new truck so maybe it wasn't filled properly at the plant
