Everyone knows that the price of fuel is just stupid right, and the oil companies say that it is the inflated prices being paaed on the the consumer. Well if that is the case, and they have no control on the prices, why is it that the Shell Rotella T I have been buying has gone up 12 cents in eight years??? just wondering on why OIL is so high, fuel is so HIH, but refined engine oil is still the same?? Maybe it is just foolish thoughts, but hey, it still makes ya wonder!

But tires which are derived from oil have also blamed their skyrocketing prices on oil also.

yeah, I bought a set of yokohamas for mine and they were 600$. The dealer said each tire contained 7 quarts of oil. Yipe!

Wow - anyone in the tire manufacturing sector care to elaborate on this?

get a bid on asphalting your driveway, costs are way up, concrete is cheaper right now, which is rare.

I know what you mean tho. the thing that is most frustrating is the comparison gas vs diesel. Diesel has always been cheaper until recently and cheaper to make, still is. explain this one??????????????????????????????????

We just had the the roofs redone at work. In the seven weeks since the guy did the bid and when the work started the price of asphalt shingles for the job went up over $1200. Part was due to increased transportation costs but most was due to the higher cost of asphalt (oil).

Our state dept of highways is running into the same problem repairing roads, higher asphalt prices are causing them to go over budget. The result is some roads won't be getting repaved when it's their time.

It used to be motor oil prices were only changed once a year, in between Xmas and New Years.
From what I've heard just this year it has been changed industry wide to four times a year.

They oughta find a way to make asphalt from used motor oil-- that would be a win-win imo.

Motor oil prices have gone up. I'm paying a $1 per quart more for synthetic oil for the Magnum and about $1 per gallon more for Chevron Delo 400 compared to last year.

I heard it has something to do with road wear. Since the big riggs account for most of the road damage and there is more now than ever.
Don't know for sure tho.

Does anyone know what exactly they do with used oil at the recycling centers?
