View Full Version : Major Site Changes to Come

DTR has some exciting things happening! One of those things is a change in our site format. In order for us to keep our site new and exciting, we've made some changes to the format that we believe are easier for the user, and more appealing to the eye.

Over the next 14-21 days, you will see parts of the site change over to this format. The first parts of the site will occur very soon, and that will be the main page, and the forums.

Some of the other portions of the site are a bit more difficult to move, but we're working on them, and will have the whole site done within 30 days.

We hope you enjoy the new look that's coming, and feel free to contact us with any questions.

It's a nice change, but that 1500 truck with the 20"s is going to be bugging me to no end. Since we deal with mainly 2500 and 3500 trucks,, would it be hard (I know it would) to change it to something like a 3500 4x4 4-door ?

No matter what truck I put up there, there's always going to be someone who wants THEIR specific year/make/model/generation/color/whatever instead....so my answer to that is, LIVE WITH WHAT'S UP THERE!!!!! ::) ;D

You can't please everyone no matter how hard you try....end of discussion. ;)

Yes.
I'd be willing to fork over some bucks for some new stickers.
Mine are very sun faded, almost bleached white.
T-shirts would be nice as well as a donation getter.

The new graphics are top notch, kudos to Mandy.

Change is hard on us old folks ;), but I've managed to get used to the other changes over the year(s).

Wow :o went out in the field with one of my technicians, and when I came back I though some one had used my computer to surf the web. I didnít recognize the site, had to take a double look. Great looking site. Now it looks as good as it is informative.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Mandy really does a great job. You'll notice that some of the pages aren't changed yet. That'll happen over the next couple of weeks. Some of them are really hard to change so I figured I'd do the easy stuff first, then work through the rest.

But it's very distracting for me.

Makes it harded to read the forums.

But I'm a creature of habit so that may be the prob.

It may get better in time.

Looks very nice, but I'm not sure like everything on the side as I have a small screen. I will have to go to my brothers and see how I like it on his bigger screen. [laugh] I don't think the truck has to go, but one with a Cummins would have been better.

Thanks, Hoss!! I really like the last truck...may have to pull a switcheroo...but don't ya'all get on me for having to flip the truck so it's facing right instead of left and ya'all can't read the Cummins logo (even though it's less than a pixel in size ::)) 'cause it's backwards... ;)

I like the new look, but the image is too big for my screen. I also don't know if I need the 'recent articles' on the side of the forums.

Other than these two things for me, I like the look of the format. Great Job Mandy!

Hmmmmmmmm... Think I prefer something a little less "busy". It does look nice, but now the "forum" side is smaller and forces one to scroll more. Seems to have lost some of it's "quick and dirty" functionality. :(

Is anyone running netscape? My brother says the site is a big pain in the butt with netscape.

crobtex
11-22-2003, 08:39 AM
I like the new layout pretty well and don't have a problem with it.......except......it's a little too wide. On most screens I have to scroll a little to the right to see the full contents of the post. I'm using the latest edition of IE with XP.

CR

RATTLINRAM
11-22-2003, 08:44 AM
Netscape doesn't like our forum software for some reason. I know that Jack has explained it before, but it's a little over my head. There was another browser that it didn't like also, but I can't remember the name. We have both Netscape and IE here at work, so I use IE. It works great on Internet Explorer. ;D

On Edit:
Just looked back at some old threads and Mozilla was the other browser that didn't get along very well. Try looking at this thread (http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/yabbse/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=18078) because some of the guys found a way to change their browser settings to make it work a little better.

Dr. Evil
11-22-2003, 11:04 AM
Hate to be picky - but having the articles on the left hand side makes you have to scroll a lot more when checking out the forums.

Awsome job Mandy!

Just as an idea... Of course can be shot down... but what about picturing all of the generations rather than being "gener-specific".... that may work as well??? Just a thought...

The site is streamlined and is great! and the grey background has my vote!

AlpineRAM
11-24-2003, 02:54 AM
Well, using either Mozilla, Konqueror or Galeon is not too nice on this site. Lots of scrolling involved. I'd like to know whether it works on the Safari for Mac.

The problem is that the table including the forum messages etc is positioned below the lowest element on the sidebar on the left.

I looked at it in IE- looks are definitely cool.

Nope, doesn't work too well in Safari (Mac). The forums table is positioned below the lowest element on the sidebar and the style sheets aren't appearing as they should on some of the pages/elements.

I suppose he could have. It's fine during the day but is slowing down at night because the current server can no longer handle the load. It's about 1 1/2 yrs old now and was fine when we got it. The problem is that we've gained 5000 more users since then.
