Hey fellas just got my mag-tec rear diff going to go and change it in the next hour.. I bought synthetic rear diff fluid. Just wanted to see what you guys were running.. I bought valvoline limitied slip.. Goona post pics when I get it on.. Also ordered the pyro probe and guage for it too...

No just the rear one.. Went with the tranny and rear for now.. That took all of my play money..

I am running Red Line fluid. A little expensive but I think its worth it.

Where did you get it at?? The only think napa had was napa and valvoline. I should be fine with the valvoline right?? Thanks Shane

I just installed the MAG diff cover last week, all I could find was dura blend or mobile 1, I went w/ the M1..... 8 full qts put it right between the lines on the stick. Haven't noticed any difference but it looks pretty cool.....Scary how little gear lube is in the stock diff. I'm sure the valvoline is just fine, especially with the amount of fluid you'll have in there!

Yeah, I should of read the directions before I bought fluid.. I only bought 4 quarts! Good thing the misses is in town... She is buying 4 more.. Very easy install.. Took all of 30 minutes even witht the little ones help.. Does look good though... Can't wait to get the probe installed along with the tranny pan..

Put mine on about 2 months ago. Filled it with Amsoil 75-90. Old fluid looked like something that would come out of a sink drain. Looks cool enough that I feel guilty driving it around.

Ok, so obviously they look cool, apparently hold 2x's the fluid.....so i suppose the question is is the stock one a weak point? Is there really a need, or is it a precation or look cool or i have extra money what the hay?

Just curious, i have a trans pan for obvious reasons...put one of these on my list (at the bottom, but on the list)

I didn't care one bit about the looks... I tow and tow extensively Usually have my 30' 12,000 lb trailer on every day and when it gets to 120 plus degrees here you know that fluid isn't cold.. I figure for $285 for the pan and $114 for fluid is a good precaution and cheaper that a rear diff.. My neighbor's burned up two rear diff's and he doesn't even tow anything.. Doesn't work the truck near as much as I do..

...i rarely tow, but do live in Arizona (120*)....so sounds like it could be worth while....I know the tranny get's pretty hot in the summer.

Does your neighbors truck make 500hp or is it stock? Seems like two rears is preaty unusual...

What's the max temp the rear should see? Same as the trans?

I don't know about the rear temp... I am kinda curious to see what it will do.. I wish I woulda had a probe in there stock and then after for a comparison.. I will post some pic's of the probe and my findings when the guage comes in..
My neighbor's truck is stock except BDTD on Extreme..

I believe that DC came out with a notice a while back to use 75-140 in the rear diff...
