Mag-hytec tranny pan install questions

Hey guys, I am getting ready to install this Mag-hytec tranny 2qt pan and had a few questions.

How much tranny fluid (in addition to the 2qts) do I need to replace?

Can the ATF 3+ be found in local auto parts stores?

Anyone of you guys done this? If so anything I should look out for?

Thanks!!!
Luis

P.S. I am still looking for a diesel mech in Maryland!!!

I need to check but I think it is 4 extra quarts.

ATF+3 is readily available at most places.

I think mine was 16 qts, total (I have a Double-Deep Mag Hytec). It's been a while though. You can always return what you don't use, if you haven't broken the seal.

4-8 qts drains from a stock pan depending on how long the vehicle is parked before draining and how long it's allowed to drain.
I usually measure how much I drained rather than fool around with the dip stick. An empty anti-freeze jug works great.

One thing to do is make shure the drain plug isn't over torqued from the factory, and use some oil on the o ring so it doesn't stick. My plug was so tight when i went to drain it the first time i didn't think i was going to get it off.

With my single deep pan it took about 7 quarts to fill the new pan. I went to the Dodge dealer and picked up two gallons of ATF 3+ but you can get generic at any auto store.

Tighten the bolts in a cross pattern slowly until snug before you tighten completely. Otherwise it was very easy!

All done!!! It was so easy, I had time to install all of my gauges (boost, pyro & tranny temp) and even adjust my idle!!!

It took 10qts of tranny fluid and the only heads up, is if your doing the double deep pan, you will need a "long" T25 star key to tighten up the filter spacer block.

Thanks!!!!
