Lurker looking for advice

Hi all,
I've been lurking on the board for some time now because I've been lusting after a 2500 Ram diesel but my current truck(2002 Avalanche) has been so good to me I have not been able to bring myself to part with it. Well, today I stopped by the local Dodge dealer and he has a 2005 2500 Ram QC,ST, 4x4, diesel, auto, with 31,000 miles. Is there anything I should check on these trucks or anything to be aware of? Any particular issues with the 2005's? Finally, what would be a good price for this truck? I didn't really get into any serious dickering but the dealer indicated they were looking for "high 20's" which seems a bit high for a 2 year old ST. Any help or suggestions is appreciated!!

Sounds too high to me. High 20's for a Laramie maybe, but not an ST.

go to kbb.com and price it out based on the options you can remember that it had, and also hit up autotrader.com and see what else is around you as a comparison.

I agree with these guys that is a high price for an ST model, but who knows how far they will come down on it, like you said that was just a first offer thrown out and theyre obviously not going to give you a smokin deal right off the bat. Also, if your looking for something thats just a couple years old I'd look into an SLT or Laramie since the ST is pretty bare bones and many of them are used strictly as work trucks so it may have taken some abuse, but that also depends on what you plan use the truck for.

Just bought my 2005

I just bought my 2005 Quad cab, 4X4, long bed automatic, spray in liner with Roll-n-Lock bed cover in January. I paid $29,000 for it with 18800 miles on it. Very nice truck with Dodge Infiniti stero but I wouldn't have paid any more for it.
