Lucas Oil Stabilizer for Detroit 2 stroke

Hi guys,
I've got this ancient excavator with a 4-53 detroit in it that smokes like (worse than) a mosquito fogger... My brother dumps this Lucas Oil stabilizer into his Ferd's diesel engine, I'm wondering if you guys have any experience with this stuff in a Detroit, if it would make a difference... Or would it cause some serious damage? The stuff is thick as honey so I'm not sure if it'll clog something up... All thoughts welcome as usual.

Wannadiesel,

I read the article you left a short cut to. I have been adding some Lucas with Delo after every oil change since inspecting the cylinder cross hatch during the changing of my third head gasket . The oil is drained when its hot and the color is always dark. Lucas is a thick additive and I think the test being done doesn't simulate a real world one. Even so I wouldn't recommend using a oil additive one way or the other. It would be insightful and entertaining to get Lucas's view of the test being done.

Thanks for that link, Wannadiesel... my engine is so far gone that I don't think any additive would help anyways. The price was right for the machine though (free, won't complain) and it still works good.
Thanks guys.

Re:Lucas Oil Stabilizer for Detroit 2 stroke

Wow,

I dont know what to think now, because I use lucas oil additive in nearly all my cars. I started with a 76 Jeep with a noisey grinding 4spd and thought I would try it full strength. It was immediately quiet and much smoother, I was impressed, then came the engine, again quiet and purrs. Year later I tried it in my babied show car a 70 Mach 1 again purrs and quiet. Then came trying it in the 66 Mustang again quiet. Now I have added it to the Cummins. I dont know but it seems to be doing something good in my cars......

Just my observations..........
