low on the power?

So i did my first "long haul" this weekend with my dodge; 2002 quad cab with an auto. MY load was a 6x12 enclosed single axle with I'd guess no more than 3,000 lbs total weight. I know, because its a squared end, its like pulling a brick wall with the wind resistance, but I was pretty dissapointed in my Dodge's performance. It was fine on the flats, but when I hit an upgrade, unless i was doing about 75 (to keep it above 2k RPM) or knocked it down to 55, and dropped a gear, it was like I was pulling with my old 1/2 ton chebby. even when i had the RPMS up, it wouldnt accelerate up the grades, and some people just NEED to be passed by a "big honkin" truck up a hill (you all know what I mean). The truck only has 16000 miles on it, so I know the engine still has some breaking in to do, but my long winded question is: is this the "normal" kind of power I should expect (all stock). I've heard of people pulling much bigger loads than this, and passing those sunday drivers like they were standing still up the grades, did I set my hopes too high?

Also, fuel pressure is fine (14 lbs), tranny fluid ect. is all normal and filled, tires are 285x75 and unloaded she runs up the hills like they arent even there.

Just curious as to what you all think
