Looking to buy a truck with a 94 engine with 150000 miles
truck starts on one 1000amp battery but turns over slowly,
runs down road good but puts out some white smoke at high rpms
when warm oil pressure at idle is just 10-12 psi but at anything over idle goes up to 50-60 psi
owner has had the truck for 9 years and had the cummins put in 4 years ago 40000miles
currently has what looks like a fram oil filter on it

Wow, your very first post, welcome aboard Keith.

If the engine has been well maintained, 150k miles is nothing. These engines will last 300-400k miles, before they need a rebuild. Remember, this is not a gasser engine, what you got there is Cummins Turbo Diesel, the finest engine ever built, OK that's just my opinion.

If the truck is in good shape, buy it, and add the second battery, you need it.

For these engines, the minimum oil pressure at idle is 10psi, so yours looks ok, and the fact that it goes up is a good sign.

Most people feel Fram oil filters are crap, change the oil with some 15W-40 Delo400 or Shell Rotela-T, and use a Fleetguard filter (unless you live in cold climate, then you may want to use thinner oil).

i wouldnt always trust the factory gauge i would put a manual gauge on it and see what it accually runs for presure. i suspect the factory gauge isnt accurate.
