Lost torque converter lockup

I'll try not to make this a novel but give all the info. I was on my way to pickup my 5th wheel up north yesterday. Went to fuel up in a town we pass through all the time and wouldnt you know they were out of diesel So we crossed our fingers we d make it to the next town 40 miles away but 8 miles away the truck died. Luckily had a atv so we rode into town and grabbed fuel and came back. Took a few minutes of cranking ( not without a few breaks) and got it started. I did notice after getting on the road after the fuel runout the truck didn't feel quite right but we made it there. We hooked up and headed out (trailer weighs 14,000 lbs.) I really noticed then that the full power just wasn't there, we came up the only real hill on the way home and the trans temp and engine temp were in the red by the time we hit the top which hasn't happened before in 5 trips the same route. After jumping on the freeway I noticed the torque converter wouldn' t lockup in overdrive. After a few minutes the od off light came on and it down shifted to 3rd. It continued to do this the 2 hr trip home with me having no control. By clicking the od button on the shifter it wouldn't do anything. Took it to the trans shop and it showed no codes but hot engine temp. The guy thinks the tc is shot but I'm wondering about low voltage from cranking from the fuel incident or something electrical. We test drove it and it runs strong but the computer is telling the converter to lockup but it won't in any gear. I have the charger on my batteries and they 're taking a small charge and my alternator is showing 13.9 volts but could be from low batteries? It starts ok but wouldn't say starts strong. I'll drain the fluid tomorrow and look at it for debris but any help would be appreciated. Oh trans has 50k since rebuild, 30k since a shift kit modified valve body, transducer and governor pressure solenoid have been replaced, capacitor has been put in and derale deep trans pan was added.

I would hook up a simple flip switch to ground the TC to manually lock it up. Simple and cheap to diagnose the TC. If it won't lock up that way it is toast. if it does you have other problems. If you can't find anything on it on a search I might have it rat holed on my PC. But I found it here on a search. Takes a switch and a 40 ohm resistor. Sure worked for me.

Wires have probably been severed just under the shifter inside the steering column , at least that's what happened to my 99 anyhow. I tapped into them and put a horn button on the dash to run the OD
