Loss of Power

Loss of Power
I own a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Disel. I have a K&N Air Filter attached.
My problem is between 1500 to 1750 RPM the truck will lose power sometime. Basically, no matter how much I press the accelator the truck does not increase in speed. Which sucks when going up hill because now I lose speed. Sometimes if I down shift, the power comes back and I can accelerate. This happenes more frequently as the tank goes empty.

You're not going to like the answers.
Do a search for "Dead Pedal" it can be one of two things causing your problem, more than likely you have a failing injector pump. ($)
You can check for any codes your truck may have by following the instructions in the tech facts section up top there.

You should check the boost pressure. If your waste gate is stuck and you are getting overboost the sensor will relay that to the computer and the computer will start to de-fuel the motor. My truck will do that. Its ok when i am chipped/programed because of the boost fooler. Anything over 22 psi and it will start to de-fuel.

Check for codes... and maybe reset your APPS. Always start with easiest & free stuff first, IMO.
APPS reset is also in "tech facts" section... but leave batteries unhooked for 2 hr min... not the 30 min suggested!
Good luck - RJ
