Lope?

Lope?
We had a party the other day and this dude showed up with a +- 2002 duramax that had an awesome lope to it. When i asked him what he had in it he said it was just a programer that gave him the lope. Can you get that kind of sound in a cummins without having to put a cam in it or something on that level. Ive heard a lot about having bigger injection lines but can you do that with a stock VP and small injectors. Id like mine to sound like that but i dont want to build a sled puller. Any suggestions?

He probably had a EFI Live programmer. They are excellent on duramax's. Get bigger injection lines and it will lope. or it will just stall everytime you come to a stop.

Why do you want your truck to lope like that Duracrap?
He probably has or is going to have bad injectors.
You need to get gauges before anything. Then a better programmer & Clutch.

Ive got the gauges. And im just gona ride this clutch until it fails. Then i wil get an comp box and a better clutch. I thought it would only stall if you have an auto.

yeah bigger lines are about the only way to make it lope but you will hate yourself if you do it. it will still stall with manual tranny with anything bigger than a .084 line. had a set of .120 lines on my truck when i did the p-pump swap because i needed them fast and they were the only ones in stock. i hated every minute they were on the truck. running .093 lines now and they are still a little big. it gets a little moody at idle when running the air conditioner

Yeah, i know you can download a "lope program" for EFI live, it doesnt do anythihng for performance that I've heard, its just to show off. Either that, or like suggested, injectors goin out, they're known for that. And i'm glad someone brought that up about drillin out the fuel tubes, I thought about it, but really don't need my truck stallin out....so thanks

One way to get it to lope without stalling is to get and Industrial Injection HRVP44 injection pump and get big injectors like around 150 hp and when its warm out she should have a decent lope. But it is kind of inconsistant, not the same exhaust note every time, I love mine, it hits smooth a couple times then will go into a lope session that sounds sick. Now the Edge Jammer nozzles will make it lope like crazy but they are real cheap and crack easy, and when I had them in mine it would stall out if I hit the pedal just a a bit, it would die on me (auto trans) thats up to you, but upgrade that IP and get some good quality injectors and it should lope decent for you.
