Looks like I have (another) project

A buddy of mine gave me 4 new in the bag tire chains for 22.5 tires last week. I've never used chains on my trucks but since they were free, I might just have to try to modify them to have on hand for the trips up north and the occasional ice storms here. Anybody modified this things for another application before?

Easy peasy..

Just make them smaller in diameter.

You can thank me later.

And to think I thought the extra width would be a problem. Thanks!

I would sell them, and buy the right size with the money.

Modifying them down to a 16-17 inch tire size will require chopping the width and length, really really not worth it. if it were me and I wanted a set of chains for my truck I would take the chains you received and inquire about trading them in for the correct chains. You will be surprised at how much those chains actually cost.
