Looking at upgrading to a second gen.

Well Guys I found a 95 standard with 225,000KM on it. The guy says it needs bearings in the tranny and a t-case rebuild. I find that highly unlikely that both went at the same time. The guy want's 3k for it I can sell my first gen for 5 to a buddy would this be a worthwhile buy? I can see the bad t-case being the cause of all the problems but not both going at the low km.

Don't do it haha! Serious note, if the truck is in pretty good shape it sounds like a good deal. You'll miss the old girl but the newer trucks do ride alot better!

i have an 01 and an 89 i had a chance to put a 95 Ppump motor in the 89 cheep & i love it.i tweeked my ve pump did some timing & it ran ok but the Ppump runs much stronger with just big delivery valves& some pump tweeks.at this point i still have the freshend but stock autotrans & the truck will about go sideways off the line mashing the throttle.but i love the power surge ya feel in my 01 when the trany hits lockup.i won't really be satisfied with it till i put a 47rh trans. in.i'm always waiting for the last shift in it after driving the 01.if the trans. in the 95 your looking at needs work you could be looking at about 2000-3000 bucks to have a GOOD trans. built to handle the power the Ppump motors are capable of with just a fuel plate, delivery valves, marine injectors & some proper pump timing.my buddy has his 95 set up this way and it pulls so hard in high gear the frame flex's.VERYY STRONG.If the bodys not too rough & you can afford to put a little money in to it i'd go for it.ITS FUN.

I dunno I find my old truck has more ***** then my dads 96 standard does. I can go down the highway punch it n watch the drivers side lift an inch or two on my old girl. i've had a few people with me n they say when I had my dads truck his didn't pull like my first gen does.

I ended up keeping it as my buddy backed out on buying it off me so I'll put some time into the body work when I can afford too.

But the ride is getting to me even with nitro shocks and the ramcharger buckets. Scholiosis and a first gen don't mix well of rough roads.
