looking for a little added power

We just bought a 30 ft. fith wheel camper and am looking to add a little power to the dodge. The truck were using is the one in my sig. We were thinking maybe the edge comp or the EZ. and maybe a j hook or turnbuckle and a BHAF nothing to extreme. Anything else we should do to the truck to get it ready to haul our camper please let me know always open to sugestions thanks a lot guys. Joe

Tc and Valve body arent totally needed., But would be nice upgrades. GAUGES before anything. Other wise the set up you discribed sounds good. I had The EZ for a little over a year and its a good source of a little extra power without being too hard on everything else.

If you can swing it, do a torque converter, valve body, and Edge EZ, and then a set of RV 275 injectors if you still want more. The TC and VB will make a huge difference in getting the power to the ground, and then the extra kick from the EZ will just make it that much better.

I ran an EZ and mech gauges to watch EGT/boost/fuel pressure, and by the time I was done it cost as much as if I had bought an Edge Juice/attitude, I thought I was saving money but in the end gauges ran me near 280$ and I paid 550$ for the EZ, fast forward one yr later and I paid 740$ for the J/A. Unless you get a used chip & gauges, just buy the edgeJ/A it does sooo much more than an EZ, for example it will beep when your fuel pressure drops or if your towing and the EGT get too hot it will warn you and defuel the truck to keep you out of the danger zone, If you have an EZ and gauges you have to drive all the time with one eye on a gauge.....
Take it from some one who learned the hard way do it once.
TC and Valve body would be nice but once you set the parameters in the edge it will keep you from eating your tranny...unless you abuse the extra go power. even after doing the tranny upgrades it wont give you any more power when running at highway speeds, once the tranny is in lockup, it wont make any difference. running the J/A on level 2 is the same power as an EZ. I towed my 25ft 5th Wheel when I only had an EZ and it was more than enough get up and go. mind you my 5er only weighs 5500# loaded

If you don't want to tap the pump, I would recommend the Quad XZT+ over the EZ. I have had both and it is a nite and day difference between the 2.

I really was not wanting to tap the wire on IP. If i went with the edge j/a do i need to tap the wire and what will it all monitor. That sounds like it would save a little money not having to buy all those guages and a mount to put them in thanks a lot guys. Joe

The j/a has alot of gauge options. Boost, egt, trans temp, speed, coolant temp, back down %, Load %, Fuel press. I think a few others too. I love my J/A.
Only thing Ill warn you about is, The bug starts small with an EZ, next step is J/A, once you feel the power of that on stage 5 youll want compound turbos and bigger injectors! Its a slippery sloap that never ends hahaha.

You can pick up a used comp for around $300 and get a good set of mechanical gauges, egt boost and fuel pressure. Here is a used quad xzt+ for $200 http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98...zilla-xzt.html

Yes you can hook up the J/A without tapping the pump, and it will add the same power as an EZ, plus give all the other benefits that the J/A gives over mech gauges and a chip. honestly the J/A is dirt simple to instal it took me less than 1/2 an hour (I already had the pyro in the manifold) its clean and only has one cable going into the cab for the monitor. the J/A advantage is you set the max/mins and alerts and you never have to drive staring at the gauges all the time, and down the road you can turn up the juice when your ready to, after doing all the supporting mods of course.

Like I said its cheaper to just find a new (or used) J/A or a Quad Adr than a chip and gauges.

My guess would be around $300 for a tc install but you can do it yourself along with a buddy if you have a transmission jack and frame spreader/porta pwr. It's pretty straight forward, just remember to locktite the TC bolts on install.
