Looking for cam feedback...
I am looking for input from guys who have put in a aftermarket cam.
Looking to see what benefits you recieved from the swap, what cam did you get and why.
I am looking to crack 700hp and still be able to tow at elevation 5500ft+ with reasonable EGT's.
I am currently running DDP 90's and a Super B special, I am looking at getting Flux 3.5's and possibly running a S465 or 468 with a .8-.9A/R or a A5k with a .8A/R.
Would that combo be well supported with a cam swap and why??
Not looking for vendor bashing...just honest real world results and feedback.
Thanks guys.
Les

Les,
Not sure if this is the kind of data you are looking for or not, but I did some before and after dyno testing between a stock cam and an aftermarket one for a customers install. Same day, same dyno, etc.
As you can see the cam will bring in the bottom end power faster and raises the torque. The peak HP usually does not change much. The power band just gets shifted around. There will be more power made throughout the band, just don't expect to make more peak power than before. The tq increase is where the noticeable increase would be. That is why people think the truck feels more powerful after the install.
In my opinion, if you are planning to make the power, and use it, a cam is almost a must. Sure you can make the power with the stock cam, but the aftermarket cam will help control egt's better and help the engine breath

Les IMHO I really dont think those charger's are gonna be a good choice to tow with even with the tighter A/R's I still think EGT's will get outta control, I have a buddy with a 05 that has a S465 and 90's and he tow's a small camper and he said his egt's will get outta hand pretty quick....
Id upgrade that Super B into one of BD's twin setups maybe??????

I am thinking with a cam I might be able to gate the Special a little more to keep DP down.
The injectors are a after thought, I think with a little more air from the cam and a better pressure box I can get 700 with my current huffer.
Still bouncing around ideas in my head....
