Changed the transmission oil 2 days ago. and over filled it by about 1/2 inch. Today drained about a 1/2-3/4 quart of ATF. drove the truck around for 25min!!! checked it and now it's 1/2 inch below the max mark.. what gives, how long does it take to get the tranny oil to operating temp.

I read somewhere that the oil should be very hot, painfull to hold between your fingers. mine was not.

25 minutes it should get nice and warm.

Unless, it was 25 minutes of freeway.

You need to do a lot of stop and go, idleing in drive, creeping along behind that "blue hair".
Shouldn't be too hard to find in Florida.

I hear you on the blue hair I do home health and 85% of our business is blue hair.
anyway I was start and stop with a heavy foot in between . I'm at a loss.
I'll check the min level in the morning when at least I know it's cold. (the oil not the air temp, it's Florida remember )

Something that caught me was not checking the tranny fluid while in neutral. I think it gave me a low or maybe inconsistent reading.
