How long do our injectors last? (greyish white smoke issue)

And how would I be able to tell if its an injector and not just bad fuel?

Also, if I let the engine idle a while 5 minutes or so, when I take off, there is a small cloud of a greyish white smoke...

But it clears right up and never happens under normal driving conditions...

Am I cool?

I would say it depends on the milage. It appears you are ready to step up and make a change anyway from the looks of your signiture,or you could just pull them and have them pop tested and then put them back in.

Retarded timing and low fuel pressure are common causes of a haze at idle. I'd start there.

Hard to say when is a good time to replace the injectors. One truck here has a little over 500K miles with the orginal injectors.I heard to replace them after 250K miles as a PM....

ur timing is retarded (no pun intended) u need to bump it...it got rid of all my white /grey smoke..also check for injector leaks..check to see if ur headers are wet ...sometimes the crush washers don't seal the injectors in bores right anymore and some air gets in over night and minor wetness develops around the injectors...pm me if u have problems

Had about 170K on the injectors in my 97 when I saw that. Local shop checked my injectors and all were out of spec. Had them rebuilt and they seemed OK. Might want to have them checked before you spend a lot of time troubleshooting other potential problems or replacing them without the test.
