Re:How long can you....

Is it parked inside or outside? Either way I would disconnect the batteries.

Re:How long can you....

I would recommend using some additive like Racor biocide. Put it in, fill up and drive a few miles before you park it. That way it will be dispersed throughout your fuel system. No need to drain it.

Here is a description, and a place to buy it, but you may be able to buy it cheaper somewhere else. US Diesel

Re:How long can you....

Just thinking out loud.... would storing with a full tank (with biocide)reduce the possibility of moisture buildup, do to lack of air in the tank?

Re:How long can you....

Anytime a vehicle is stored for an extended period it should be stored with a full tank of fuel. This applies to gas or diesel. It applies even more so if the vehicle is stored outside. For the diesel I would recommend that after the vehicle is put back in use that the filter be checked for water after driving for a few hundred miles. After putting the vehicle back in use run that tank almost dry before refueling.
Also do as me4osu said.
If it was my vehicle I would also place a small block of wood or something under the wiper arms just enough to lift the wipers off the glass. Don't lift the arm completely, specially if parked outside.
If there is a possibility of rats getting into or under the vehicle then you have to take other precautions.
Re:How long can you....

I stored mine a few times for deployments. Just put a little biocide in it, left it with >3/4 tank, and checked the fuel filter after starting her up. Oh yeah. I drove her pretty hard (pulling up hills and what not) after I got back. Should be fine. I never had a problem. Mine was also bone stock at the time.
I've heard that Bounce dryer sheets placed in the cab and under the hood will help prevent rodent infestation.

This is not a joke.

Ed

Re:How long can you....

Heard that too, but fortunately for me have never had to try it. Would not hurt anything and you will come back to a nice clean smelling truck.

JAX,
Must be your first deployment. At some bases, SuBase Pearl was that way, the vehicles were stored inside with battery disconnected. Just before we come back in off patrol, batteries were charged and topped off and the vehicle cranked up and run a few miles.
That bird farm(AKA haze gray Mike Foxtrot, Target) you're riding has plenty of room, just take it with ya.

rememberingthedaysoflongandblackandneve rcomesbackShortround out
