Hey guys!

I did a few things to the old girl a week ago and thought I'd pass on my findings. I've towed roughly 600 miles over the last few days in various traffic....town and highway.

Redline Water Wetter

I thought I'd give this stuff a try after doing a bunch of research on it. At least in my case, it works!!!

Normally my truck runs with the temp guage straight up. From there, it does the slight swing to one side or the other from the straight vertical position. With Water Wetter, truck now runs with the needle, left of vertical by about 2 needle widths and never goes over vertical. I'd give you temps but we all know how "vague" the factory guages are.

So the truck does run noticeably cooler. I added 1 1/4 bottles of the stuff as per the bottle.

Amsoil MTF Trans fluid

I've run Redline MTF for about 120,000 KM's and have never had a problem. I thought this oil change on the NV5600, I'd give Amsoil MTF a try.

All my oil changes have been run with 6 full quarts of fluid in the trans poured thru the top of the shift tower.

With MTL, after about a 1/2 hour or so of running, the trans temp would climb to about 160 and depending on the grades, go as high as 180. With the MTF, I thought the trans temp guage was broken, it took over 2 hours to come off the peg (140 deg) and finally settled in at about 160 and pretty much stayed there. Shift quality is about the same. When cold, MTF is better, a little more fluid in the shifts. When warm, I would have to lean more to the MTF side more so I think because it seems to be quieter.

Just thought I'd pass these findings along and maybe it will help someone.

Run the MTF for a while

I love Amsoil stuff, but I didn't care for the MTF

After like 5 or 6k it starting shifting poorly. The stuff came out like water, and just seemed like it broke down.

So put Redline MTL in and its fine.

Homestead

I was finding that the MTL was only good for about 20,000 miles before it needed to be dumped so time will tell.

Oil is cheaper than a transmission so I don't have a problem changing it out as needed.
