Liquid thread sealer

Should I use liquid thread sealer on top of the fuel filter housing when mounting the fp guage sending unit, or is teflon tape fine there?

I wouldn't use the tape. If a little piece breaks off and goes downstream into the IP, bad things could happen. I would use a diesel rated sealer. I used Loctite's PST-567 (data sheet, click here ). Expensive (about $15.00 a tube) but pretty cheap considering the alternative (gummin' up a VP-44).

I've had good luck with the Permatex in the little white tube.

Permatex #2 works excellent, is cheap and available at any autoparts store.
Teflon tape is for plumbing and has no place in an automotive application.
