Re:Limited Slip not working
Mine is the same way. There was a post on here a good while ago that said you could take the LS out and re-arrange the clutch disks in a different order so it would work better. Seems pretty time comsumeing, but I guess it would work. Some people's work well, and some don't. Mine does not. Wish I would have saved my $$ for the LS and put it towards a det. locker or an ARB. If you apply the parking brake slightly, it will make your LS work a little better, but not much.

Are you sure you have Limited Slip?
I assumed, incorrectly, that all 4x4's came with it.
Took my getting stuck, hopping out and seeing 1 tire in front and 1 tire in the back spinning away.
Checked my paperwork and no mention of it.
Checked glove box, still no mention.
Wasn't aware it was an option, or by gumm I would have made sure it had it.

I think that the limited slip is standard on the dana 80, but an option on the dana 70. I learned the same way you did phox, i thought i had the limited slip also because a lot of dodges have it.

Re:Limited Slip not working
If you've got really poor traction (i.e. snow/ice) there might not be enough torque to apply pressure to the plates. A limited slip requires some traction on the wheel with the least traction to work. If you're stuck, try applying a little parking brake (don't spin the wheels too much, or you'll burn up your shoes) to put a torque load on the axle.
One way to tell if you have an open diff is to jack up the rear wheels and try to spin the rear tires. If they spin in opposite directions, you have an open diff. If they don't move, try putting the trans in neutral. If the spin the same direction, you have a limited slip (or a siezed diff :-[ ).
There used to be breakaway torque specs for limited slips that you could check with one wheel on the ground and the trans/TC in neutral. Don't know if those specs exist for modern trucks.

My 02 2500 has a Dana 80, and the window sticker lists the anti-spin differential as an $285 option in the optional equipment box.

Re:Limited Slip not working
If you are sure you have it, and its just not working, I would drain the pumpkin again, refill, and not use any friction modifier. Do some figure eights, and add 2 ounces of modifier at a time til it quiets down....

Re:Limited Slip not working
Pull the rear diff cover, drain and clean all the crud out of the housing, and then take about six cans of spray brake cleaner and completely wash all the grease out of the clutches and washers.
Let it dry, put it back together, add your lube and friction modifier.
