Limited slip differential

I rotated my tires and checked the brakes on my truck yesterday, noticed the rear tires would spin like the truck had a open differential. According to my window sticker this truck has a limited slip diff. What is the deal? I havent removed the cover to be sure. Is this a type of limited slip diff that only locks under a load. I have noticed the tires chatter and hop going around corners under heavy throttle. Also, both tires spin under full throttle. The diff acts like I would expect it to on the street, just not with the tires on the stands. Is this normal?

These axels do not have cluches and do not react like the Dana's so if you spin one side while in the air the other side rotates in the opsite direction.
