Question light troubles

I am havin trouble with my lights. I know that this is the place to go for all my questions to get answered. Here it goes. The trouble is when I turn my head lights on is that there the only thing working. No clearance, dash, or cab lights. When I pull the switch just barely out I can get all the lights to come on. I thought it was the head light switch so I replaced it in the Wal-Mart parking lot this evening. Does the same thing. I wouldnt worry about it to much but when I turn on my head lights my tail lights do not work. I can mash the brake pedal and have brake lights but when I let off the pedal Im back to darkness again and I was already pulled over a few days ago for no tail lights at night. I hope there is someone that can tell me what to do because I am at a loss. Thank yall for the help.

I usually attack these problems with a test light. Start where the problem is and work your way back to the battery. The problem usually lies at the last place you look :-D

More than likely your headlight switch is done. Mine did the same thing as yours. Replaced the switch and life was good again.

When you tried a new headlight switch, did you have a good look at its connector to make sure all the terminals were tight and had not overheated?

If you have a wiring diagram, you can jump out the headlight switch to isolate it and make sure it isn't the problem.

i hate when that happens, got my ramcharger with, i think it was a penny jammed in it. I opted to replace it rather than try and pry it out.

I have a 95 1/2 ton when you pull on the headlights they come on untill you dim the lights then they go out ,or they will just go out going down the road and maybe come back on in a few secounds or not. Have reolaced the headlight switch.

Thanks for the input. I have my phone charger in the cig lighter so it isnt that. I wished that was it, I could fix that. I put a new head light switch in and the same ting is happening except it is easier to get the parking lights on just wont work when in the parking light position or when you pull the handle all the way back to where your head lights come on. I didntc chech the connector. It didnt feel hot when I replaced it though. Not a whole lot of room to get to it either. Thought I was gonna have to dismantle the whole dash to get to it. I really appreciate all yalls advice yall shared with me. Ill have to get a tester and start chasing. I just hope I can find it without tearing something else up! My luck. lol
