liftin front end

i am wanting to lift the front of my 92 4x4. i checked with the local 4x4 shop he told me skyjacker was not designed for diesels (too heavy) he said any spring pack he sold me were for diesel and i could get the 2.5 in lift i want BUT the springs would only last 5 years max.
please help me out. is he feeding me a line of BULL? any other ideas?

Lots of guys running them. Their site lists them as 2" lift for 2500/3500 diesels. I think he wants to sell something more expensive. Just get the d-25's.

thats total BS. like racer said, more expensive parts are going to = more money for him. I bought my truck with the skyjacker kit on it, and the old owner said that it was in since late 99-00. so ive got 7-8 years out of mine, and my springs are still just as good as new, and on a side note, if they are putting the springs that i have in my truck into lighter trucks, it would beat them to death, there is no way that these kits arent made for our trucks. the best place to look would be on 4wheelparts.com, they have some of the best prices ive seen around. im ordering my new dick cepek rims and my 40's from there real soon.

If you want a really quick and easy solution...buy a leveling kit. It's just a couple of spacers that go on top of your factory springs and add 2", 2.5", or 3" whichever one you want...I've done this to both of my trucks and have buddies that have too and don't have any problems...about $80 off of eBay...

I tossed an add a leaf in each side of my 93's front springs. It was cheap, simple, and it worked fine. I think I got them from JC Whitney.

I put on the D25s and they are great, I even use my 9 foot western unimount on it. 2 or 3 years now, no sagging, rides good.

D25's and leveling kits won't work on a 92 since it uses leaf springs instead of coils....I would suggest reposting in the 1st gen forum to see what 2" springs or add-a-leafs work best.

I widdled out an airbag front suspension for mine. Took two days and some extensive measuring, but they work great and ride awesome. I wasnt out anything on metal and the bags were 50 bucks each. I played the spring game too and just got tired of it. The cost was way too high to buy new ones and to re-arch (which Im firmly against) was just as high. I've been thinking about building these for us 1st genners. Just a thought.

I put a four inch skyacker on my 89 ctd and it road great until I rolled it. I bought mine kit from summit racing, who is a skyjacker dealer, just make sure you specify that it is for ctd, and they should be able to get just some 2inch lift springs. or you can go to your local spring works shop and have them custom make some for you, it might be cheaper.
