Lifted? Or not?

I think my truck has a stock suspension. When i bought it, there was no mention of any changes when I asked about it. I looks like the stock parts are in place. But, when I look at other similar trucks, they appear to sit lower than mine.

I put on new tires recently, and they are stock size. The front springs do not appear to have a spacer, and they look original. The rear spring pack has 3 thin blocks between the springs and the axle pad.

But, here's the important part. From the top of the fender curve is 39" in the front, and 41" in the back; as measured through the wheel centerline. Is that a stock measurement?

It sounds to me like your suspension is stock. I just measured my 04.5 and came up with similar numbers... Front was just over 40 1/2inches and the Rear was just over 42 1/4inches... I am also running 34 inch tires. Oh yeah, my suspension is stock.

Thanx. I thought it was stock, but wanted to be sure.

I'm thinking of lowering it a little. Mayb 1.5-2" or so.

Anybody know where I can get a spring compressor for this truck?

You don't need a spring compressor, the springs fall right out when you do it right. That's my experience.

I read through the service manual, and that was the impression I got. Just take a few things apart, and the springs "fall" out. Looked like a good days work, but doable in the garage. One more thing to add to my list.

The only off roading I do is dirt roads. Nothing hard core that needs a lot clearance. I don't put huge loads in it, either. Race car, trailer, and gear is probably well under 5K#.

The compressors that you can rent won't handle that much spring. I checked.

That just don't sound right. What auto store did you try? I ask this because i've used them from O' and Shucks

I checked with the only two places in town that have the free rental - Autozone and Checker.

Maybe I'll call a rental yard and see what they have. All I need is to do is compress the spring a little bit and cut 1/4 coil off. I'd hate to spend the entire day taking stuff apart just to do that.
