I know I am probly cursing my truck by asking this question but..... I have 143,00 miles on the original Lift Pump and was wondering what the average life span is for a stock original pump. at idle I am at 12 psi and cruse on 2x5 is 7 psi. but comp on 5x5 psi goes down to 2 psi, I dont do that verry often but......

Dunno....I've got 91,000 on mine and it's still pumping strong too. I've got 9K to go on the warranty so if somethings going to break, I wish it would soon. [whistle]

I have a 95 with 190,000 on it and the boys at the shop said mine is weak. They streched the spring on the return and it didnt help so they belive the lift pump being weak is the cause.

Without a fuel pressure gauge it could have died along time ago and you would never know it.

I 2nd that! I had a couple thousand miles on mine and it started giving me problem. I've heard stories of lift pumps bad out of the box. I put the FASS II on mine and put the problem to bed.:D

Different animal, 12valve lift pump and 24valve lift pump.

from reading on here it seems the life span of the pump is somehere between 2 and 143,000 miles ;)

236,600 here on a 12v pump. The guy gave me a brand new one he bought with the truck. I may go ahead one of these days and put it on.

That pretty much sums it up.

12 valve pumps will last as long as the engine, usually.

45K on my original lift pump, VP44 already died at 4K though.

I'm thinking the lift pump might last through the summer, 14psi at idle, 9 at WOT, was 12 WOT when I put the guages on a year ago.

Changed mine at 53k.

I would dump any LP pump that would drop your pressure below 5 psi at WOT. Yes you can run these pumps into the ground but at what cost. The dodge spec is replace the pump when the pressure is below 8 psi. This is at idle but when you run a comp box, you need lots more fuel than 5 psi. I've kill about three LP pumps and thats before 60000 miles mark. I didn't run my injection below 5 psi, too often. I hate to create a VP fear game here but these pumps don't take too much abuse. Low fuel pressure will kill it will in no time at all. I'm on my second injection pump. The first died because of a bad LP pump and was replaced under warrantee.

Last post ; DOA:1994 2500 4x4, Possible hole in a piston ! Bummer!
