Lift pump going bad?

I went to start my truck the other day and when I turned the ignition on to let the grid heater cycle the lift pump was really noisey. It was pretty cool outside (about 25 degrees) but it has never made that much noise before. This morning when I came to work, it sounded normal. Do you think this is a sign of the lift pump on its way out?
Thanks for your help.

Its possible. Is yours on the filter housing or in the tank? Strangely enough mine got quieter before it went out. check for codes.

Mine is still on the filter housing. My truck has approx. 41000 miles.

If you can hear it, that's good. Sometimes I hear mine on startup, sometimes I don't. If you want to stay stock, buy a spare from Geno's for peace of mind. Easy to swap out.

I'd say look into a pressure gauge, that will tell you real quick if its getting worn out and not pumping like it should

Thanks for the ideas. I do need to get a pressure gauge. I also thought of getting a new pump from Geno's. Maybe I should do both?
