Lift Pump - electrical?

I have a fuel pressure guage in our truck, having replaced the pump three times and the fuel injuection pump once (ouch). This last pump is the FASS DDRP, and it was performing very well.

Yesterday, I was driving out of town when I noticed that my fuel pressure was at 0. The guage is lit up, though. I pulled over and checked for leaks at the banjo bolts, thinking maybe something was loose and I had lost prime. They were tight. When I bumped the ignition, there was no sound from the pump, but a couple of clicks coming from somewhere. When I started up again, the CEL came on. I got back home without the engine acting up, but I was fearing for the injection pump!

We have an Autel code reader, and the only thing I got from it was "$D1 engine."

When I replaced the previous pump with the DDRP, it hadn't died - I was getting intermittent drops in pressure, and thought it was dying. I already had the DDRP so decided to change it out. Afterwards, I realized maybe the drops were from a loose banjo bolt, losing prime periodically.

With that, I swapped the old pump back in to see if it at least ran, therefore implicating the new pump. It didn't run, either. The guage light comes on. I heard clicks again. I thought the second wiring harness between the pump and ?? looked like the wires might be loose going into the harness. Maybe there's a disconnect there?

I just wanted to check with the forum to see if there might be any other source for this problem, no power to the pump.

TIA

Revision:

I may have misunderstood what the pump should do when you turn the ignition on. In the past, when I've turned the key, the pump would run for about 30 seconds. This time, the pump did go on a few times for just a few seconds, sometimes not at all. With my husband turning the key, he said the guage went up to about 5psi when the pump did run briefly. So, we decided to run the engine and see if pressure went up and stayed up. It did. So, we are going to test drive it and see if there is intermittent drops. If it stays steady, then perhaps it was the DDRP.

However, the CEL is still on! Earlier in the week I had posted about the CEL coming on but the engine not acting troubled. When I checked the oil, it wasd pretty low and when I added oil, the CEL went out. It stayed off until this fuel pressure problem. Now it is still even though the oil is in the safe range.

Someone mentioned that maybe the seal on the oil cap might be blown and that it could trigger the CEL. Is that so?

We checked with the Autel again, and still get the "module $D1" and "engine"

TIA

I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!

Probably wont help, but if my oil got that low I would change it and put on a new filter, just to make sure.

Try clearing codes, and see if they come back.

Never seen those codes before. At the top of the 2nd gen main page Jack (administer) wrote a sticky with 2nd gen codes, when you get them you can look them up.

You figured it out already but the lift pump will just run a quick prime cycle at ignition, just a couple of seconds. If you bump the starter it will run for about 30.
