shovelhead you dont believe that the government is capable of this kind of action. Keep your eye on waste vegetable oil. if it really starts to catch on wait and see all the regulation that come out about it. They already want to add an additional tax on hybrid vehicle because of the revenues they will loose due to lost fuel sales... maybe im just one of those paranoid people too. but i thought we were much further ahead in this country as far as civilization goes. but the way things are going in the hurricane affected areas leads me to believe we are just a bunch of savages....I could possible understand behavior like that if you are starving but you cant eat a TV.

30-40 kts with a Supertanker? I regretfully must call BS. If he had any idea about what he was talking about he'd know that 1/2 that is faster than most of are capable of.

Hmmm. Don't know what that guy is smoking. Never seen a super tanker in Galveston. Channel isn't deep enough for that large of a ship. Neither is Port Arthur. A super tanker could be off loaded in the gulf to a smaller ship to be brought into port but I don't think it's cost effective. Thats why the LOOP was built off the coast of Louisiana for super tankers to unload. http://www.gadgetopia.com/post/4292

Well, I wonder why the web site operator puts up a disclaimer that in part says:

...Rense.com makes no, and expressly disclaims any, warranties, express or implied, regarding the correctness, accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and reliability of the text...

I read an article by the same guy, David Icke, where he said Dick Cheney chased him nude though the forest in Wyoming until he finally collapsed. Cheney then proceeded to violently rape him.
I now find it very hard to believe anything Icke says, we all know with Cheney's heart condition he can't run.

1. Financially Fesible is a word this (insert your word here) needs to learn. NO company is going to spend money and risk a lease just because of a big piece of fruit when there is more hanging lower.
2. The top of the well is spudded and capped by a cheap day rate floating rig. The well isn't completed, just the top drilled.
3. the GOM has MANY locations of shallow underground water that can bury a lease block under 50 ft of mud. This has happened to Conoco Phillips a couple times.
4. Oil and gasoline are publically traded comodities. The government doesn't effect prices any more than they do on orange juice.

I wish people would just realize, if you can sell something for 3 dollars, why sell it for 2? Is it right, no...its just business. But I guarantee everyone that complains about the price of gas-if that person were offered 2 times what thier vehicle was worth, would take the money and not say. No I dont want the 10,000 your offering, ill just take 5,000.

Yeah I get upset, but we all pay it. If we only used gas to and from work, and minimal travel it wouldnt be in as much demand. Its the people who need to run another 45 miles to save 4 bucks on a pair of shoes, its all of the wasted trips for nothing. If you do any research, you will realize more crude oil isnt our answer...our refineries are at or near 100% capacity to make gasoline, thats the truth. Until the laws are a bit more relaxed to build more refineries, it will stay that way.

Local refiner here, United Refineries is in Warren,PA. yet the price of their gasoline has reflected that of the southern states who have a shortage, yeah its wrong, but its DEMAND. Youll pay 3.19 a gallon, and ill sell it for 3.19 a gallon. As long as their is a buyer, there is a seller. When demand eases, which around here I have seen it, then the price will ease as well. If people continue to drive hundreds of miles for useless garbage, then it will go back up.

I hate seeing day in and day out the odd reasons for the price of crude to hike, but now with China and India using lots more oil(they did the same thing with steel prices, when they were using more) there is more competition for oil, and the price will increase, kinda like an ebay auction. more interested buyers, the higher the price climbs

Yeah, a cheap lease on a floating rig is $300-400k a day now. [eyecrazy]
