Let's see your headache rack

I'm getting ready to build a headache rack and wanted to see what people on here have got to get some ideas. If you built it yourself, what size steel did you use? I can get pretty much any size steel I want for real cheap, so I'm also looking for suggestions on the best way to build it.

I can't get a picture right now, but I'll post one up later today of mine. It's pretty solid.

i used 2" square tubing....the heavier wall stuff.....1/8" iirc. for the louvers i used 2"x1/8" flat stock. the put some 1/4" gussets where it meets the rails. for the rails/base i used 2"x2"x1/4" angle, but 3x3 would have been better

Wow, both of those look awesome. That barb wire looks pretty scary, wouldn't want my dog getting near something like that.

I'm going to give my brother the steel list tomorrow to see what he can do. Some of the stuff I can get pretty much for free, so that's going play a big factor in what size steel I use. I really like the way that 1 1/2 x 3 looks, but I'm thinking the 2x2 tube steel is more likely to be laying around in the scrap piles at his work. I've been thinking about just using some type of steel mesh all the way across, but I really like that louvered look and I think I can get plenty of that flat bar.

Did you guys have those powdercoated or just paint them yourselves?

A good friend of mine twisted the wire and built the headache rack. It is powdercoated and then we painted the barbed wire a textured rust color.
