leaking radiator valve.

I had to drain some coolant and cannot get the rad. draining valve stopping leaking some.

I have tried opening/closing many times thinking there might be a small debris located in there keeping it from sealing good but didn't work!
I had to use pliers to crack it open and rotated it half turn..was this OK?
Might need a new one but find it strange it goes that easy..altough it is 12 years old..
thanks,Ron.

There is a 10¢ o-ring on the drain that's probably shot. Turn the drain a quarter turn and pull it all the way out. Run down to the parts store for a new one. You will lose most of your coolant, be prepared.
