Angry leaking radiator

2003 looks like the lower fan shroud has rubbed a hole in the radiat or. Is this common? any easy fix without removal? How hard to get it out?

I saw that on an 03 not too long ago. Worn by the part of the shroud where there's a channel for the elec. fan clutch wiring to run, if I recall. The rad wasn't too bad to get out. I ended up putting in a whole new radiator. I just don't trust aluminum cores for long-term repairs.

Seems to be fairly common on 2003 models (I caught mine in time thanks to a post here). I'd replace the radiator and shim the shroud to keep the problem from recurring. Since I caught mine before the shiny spot became a hole, I just split a 4"-6" long piece of vacuum line and slipped it over the bottom of the shroud which seems to keep it from rubbing.

I think dodge should be sending out some notice about this. They see this stuff all the time. For a 5 cent part i have a hole in a 400.00 radiator. Its insane.

Mine did it too. Dodge said not covered. It happened at 69000 miles on mine. I put alumaseal in and it has been fine for 6000 miles.
