Leaking PSD?

My dad has a 2001 PSD and I noticed today that there was alot of engine oil underneath the fuel filter assembly and I was wondering if anyone had an ideas as to where this might be coming from ???. It has made its way down the front of the engine and has been dripping on the front axle which makes me wonder if its somewhere close to the front of the engine but as you drive blows it towards the back of the engine underneath the turbo charger.

Doesnt have alot of miles(120 000 miles) on it so I just thought I would throw the Q out there and see if anyone had any bright ideas.

Thanks

Jason

Re:Leaking PSD?

Try cleaning it off, letting it dry completely, and sprinkling some talcum powder on it.
It'll help show where it's coming from.

Re:Leaking PSD?

Jason, your probably gonna find out that the oil is coming from one of the oil galley plugs. They are notorious to leak there. It is a huge plug, maybe 2" round and when you take it out it has a rubber o-ring on it. If they are not carefully installed at the factory, the o-ring can be damaged by burrs and such in the casting. There are four of these plugs, one on each side, rh and lh front cyl. head, and the same on the rear of the cyl. heads. That would be my best guess.
Rick

Re:Leaking PSD?

Since you are in Ontario maybe the F*rd programme for oil spary to save the body?
Oil dye is an excellent way to pinpoint leaks. Use a blacklight. No guessing that way

Re:Leaking PSD?

Thanks for all your replys and helpful information.

I will have to check those plugs to see if thats where its coming from once it warms up here a bit. The dye has been used on this engine before and does work very well. I have diagnoised the last leak to be the rocker cover gasket on the right bank but the dealer didnt believe me but after washing it down and putting the dye in there was no doubt where the oil was coming from, one new rocker cover gasket and while they were at it a new main seal i think it was at the front of the engine. Come to think of it these things leak alot..

Jason
