I would think maybe getting a replacement from Cummins would be the best bet perhaps. And oh yes, you can def notice when the fan is locked, very loud.

I'd like to bet that your radiator is plugged (externally) from the crankcase vent breather. You will be amazed at just how bad it can get.

Ditto on checking your radiator...

I've grossed well over 30k in 100+* temps and never can get the water over 215-220ish... Fan rarely kicks in... (But you know it when it does!)

Does the fan have some resistance when turning? If not the clutch may just be weak...

For the clutch fan to engage you have to have heat transfer from the radiator to the clutch hub. If you have some cardboard stuck in there for winter that could be it. Even though the rad was changed a month ago if you still have the puke bottle in the original location the rad could be plugged already.

The factory clutch fan on these trucks is a monster compared to most and you WILL know when it engages However is your truck an auto trans? If so the trans may be heating up the cooling system so quickly (under certain conditions) putting on the lite before the clutch can engage. One other thought..... Is the cooling system full?
