Did you check the license plate lights? that lamp out light is the biggest pita ever.

Yep. Checked all lights while the lamp out light was on and they were all on.

First thing to look at is the tail lights. Pull the bulb out and look at the base of the bulb where the wires are. Often on our trucks, the wire will get hot, melt a little and move the wire over, causing the lamp out warning.

Make sure you turn your parking lights on and look for the dim lights.

The third brake light is another one that is elusive.

Mine would illuminate the lamp out, and turn off the left rear brake light. It turned out to be the canopy light had a short in it. The lamp out circuit is a PITA to trouble shoot anything other than a bulb out.

Let me know what you find. I have the same problem. For the most part, I only get the chime and lamp out light when I put the turn signals on, but sometimes I get blips of it just going down the road. More confusing, if I am turning WITH THE BRAKES ON, the lamp out DOES NOT illuminate??
All of my lights appear to be in good working order. I did find a lic. plate light out and replaced it. It did not help.

I had the "lamp out" and chime and after replacing MANY components I finally found the fix (for my truck anyway).

I removed the Front Control Module, cleaned the contacts with QD Electronic Cleaner, then smothered with dielectric grease.

The FCM is the silver/metal box outboard of the Fuse Box in the engine compartment directly behind the driver's side headlight. Removing the FCM was a real bear though. There is one bolt on the fender and one plastic Phillips screw/tab down by the window washer reservoir and two plastic tabs on the fuse box that slide into slots on the battery tray. I also removed a yellow wire+connector that was attached to the inboard side of the fuse box. After that, the fuse box and FCM should slide toward the engine about 3/8" which will allow the fuse box and FCM to separate from the battery tray. I removed the driver's side headlight by removing the three 10mm bolts (one of them is under the headlight toward the outside corner) At this point, I tried removing the window washer reservoir but couldn't because the fuse box was in the way. So with a 1/4-drive ratchet and small socket and short extension, I was able to remove the 4 small bolts holding the FCM to the fuse box. The FCM can then slide straight out from the fuse box.

FYI, the "lamp out" circuitry only looks at the low & high beams, the turn signals, and the brake lights. If those bulbs and sockets are new, clean, un-melted and you're still getting the lamp out signal and chime, consider removing your FCM.....it worked for me.
