Ladder Bars

I'm redoing my suspension this summer and one of the things I'm looking into doing is a set of ladder bars in the rear. I want a set that is bolt on or requires minimal welding. They've got to keep my rear axle from twisting on acceleration and from hopping when pulling my stuck friends out while still being able to offer decent flex while 4 wheeling. I was looking at the ones on this site but I don't know which ones I should get. What do yall recommend? Any other brands out there? Thanks for the help yall. I'm hoping that buy the end of the summer I'll have a pretty stout setup suspension and steering wise.

I recall a couple of years ago, some guys on the "other site" reporting cracked frames from ladder bar use on 2nd gens. I don't know if it was brand specific or not though.

I got a set from a member over on the TDR named Greg Long handle LSFarm. He has a website www.greatlakesdieselworks.com bad picture but has contact info. His are pretty nice I really like them. The frame cracking issue was for that specific bar that Steve St Laurent had made. They have since changed the design and put a backing plate for the frame mount and he has discountinued making them. The ones I got from Greg were a simple bolt on and drill a couple holes on each frame rail for the bolts to got through into the backing plate, no welding required. Took about an hour and half to install taking my time. They were very easy to install. There is another company called Caltracs that makes some that fit our trucks but dont know much about them. www.calvertracing.com. I also think enterprise engine makes some but they may be a bit overkill since they are probably for the pulling crowd.

Well I just ordered a set of tuff country ladder bars. Cost $343 shipped. I hope they keep my real leaf spring bolts from breaking. I'm getting really tired of replacing those suckers. I'll let you know how everything turns out.
