Moving my freightliner to another storage place as it current place is no longer available. Since not using any more i haven't had it inspected or liscened this year. I plan on staying on the back road but will have to get on a us highway for mile. If I do run across a smokey or DOT and I am just moving do you think they will throw the book at me. It is insured just not liscened?
you should be able to go to the courthouse and get a 24 hr or up trip tag. cost anywhere from 5 to 50 here. done it before when tags were out on one of my big trucks

I'll look and see if missouri has anything like that. Worst case they would fine me. How expensive is that. I know if varies by state but any ball parks. I am still looking for a gravel road or something to avoid the us highway.
no telling but the permit is a paper tag and they should have it explain what you are doing down where you get your tags and they should be able to help ya

I can't speak for the laws in your state, but if you were where I lived and got caught your tractor will be towed and impounded until properly registered/licensed. The cost of the tow/impound fee's and what ever fine were assessed would far surpass the initial cost of having it towed from location to location. If having it towed is not an option for you then do you know anyone with a repair plate or farm plate?

Well, if it was me, I'd just start er up and head down the road...but, if you want to do it legal, temp tag's the way to go...

I agree, if it was me I'd just drive it. Expired tags isn't that big of a deal, no insurance is a bigger problem and you say you have that. Definitely not the worst offense any cop has dealt with. If you get stopped which is highly unlikely remember ignorance is bliss.

Well I happened to be watching Smokey and the Bandit and it came to me. Called a few buddies as look outs and got it moved. Never saw one but wonder if any of my buddies really would have draw smokies attention if needed, lol.

Not a good forum here for that, depends on the state. Here I would just drive it. I have a 2006 tag on my trailer no one has cared. It is registered just have not changed the tag. I have driven a lot of unregistered truck here but other states....uhhhhhh.
