Killed my first VP!
Just thought Id join the club. In case you ever wondered, your VP may give absolutely NO sign of failure and leave you stranded on the side of the road......even though you have good fuel pressure. Happened to me. Truck threw a 1688 code after dying while going down the highway. Thats all.

I just put on in my rig 2 weeks ago. Runs 40x's better now. I got all the signs but thought it was something else, well was hoping something else.

Welcome to the Club.
I've had two die.....both the same way as yours......happily clattering down the highway showing 13 psi of fuel pressure one second, silence the next......then calling for a roll-back to get me home.
Not a hiccup, not a stumble, no sign of impending failure what so ever.....just Kaput.
I've been fortunate to have it happen both times with above average (for DC winter) temps and clear weather.

Same thing for me. Had get towed home by a GMC Suburban. My son's. Had to listen to why diesels suck for a week while I was getting the parts together and for the weather to cooperate.

Well, Im sure hoping the truck is finished today. Got a good deal on a VP44/Fass 95 combo. Sure hope it helps the VP live. I was due to put one on though. That pump had 143k on it, had a stock factory-installed lift pump til 100k with low press., Edge comp for 15k, 2 holley blues die, and to my knowledge...had been dry over 5 times from various installation/removal/failure of aftermarket parts. With towing, installation, parts included- this has been a $2000 dollar project.

Couldn't tell you how many are on mine, but I CAN tell you that I'm heavily leaning towards a 7100 swap if/when it does.
Thankfully I have the option to be entirely dependent upon truck even though it's the only vehicle of mine I actually drive.
