Nice Job---Did you use anything to clean the plastic B4 painting? Be interesting to see how long the Krylon stuff lasts.
The nice thing about it is that if it does fail, just shake rattle and spray again. Magnum

Re:Katzkins Leather installed

Magnum just a wipe down with normal paint thinner is the only prep its guaranteed for 7 years not flaking or chipping or cracking.

Jamie-

That wasn't supposed to be a trick question, just that I teach auto-body for a living. On Plastic parts, the use of some paint thinners is a gamble in that you might "melt" the plastic.
Usually, painting plastic involves the use of an "adhesion promoter" In the future, I would recommend you:

#1 Clean the part with HOT soapy water
#2 Reclean with a plastic prep cleaner(rubbing alcohol will do in a pinch)
#3 Scuff (scotchbrite pad) the plastic
Repeat steps 1 &2
#4 Paint

I've never seen this "Krylon plastic" paint. Maybe it already has some kind of an adhesion promoter built in.

PS If it ever does start to flake off, try the above steps.

Sorry about that---Magnum

Re:Katzkins Leather installed

Dude, Man your crackin me up here. I installed leather seats in my truck last winter. So far so good. I did not find the Katskin brand though so I used the factory Dodge leather seats. They are very expensive and although it was nor hard to install it was a very long wrestling match with my patience.

Im not upset or anything but the Krylon paint is supposed to be prep free thats the point of the paint. Its strictly meant for plastic to be zero prep just use regular paint thinner I used canadian tire then just wiped with a rag and painted.

I hope is stays and I appreciate the advice I just followed the directions and it turned out awesome it also remains very flexable. When I painted my scotty 2 I had to flex it to get it into place (don't ask) and it didn't chip or anything it just flexed like normal and the paint stayed. This stuff really seems to be great stuff.

Re:Katzkins Leather installed

Obviously VOIDing the Scotty warranty will not mean much so you might as well KRYLON the rest of the interior.

Are you wearing a mask while painting? I am thinking perhaps not. 8)
