Re:K&N air filter
Waam if you have an autozone near you you can purchase a K&N filter that will fit in your stock airbox. I would imagine you can get them at other parts stores also. If you want to do it over the net just do a search with K&N in the subject line and you are bound to get lots of options. I have seen posts here that are opposed to K&N because it has a mesh that might let larger than desired particals into the motor. I have run them in a corvette,Harley and other gassers with no problem but a CTD may be a different animal considering the life we expect from them. I am running K&N but watch the other responses and threads and make your decision. One thing for sure you are on the right track by wanting to get more airflow when you get it breathing pull the silencer ring and listen to the whistle ;D ;D

You can order directly from K&N on the internet. Just go to their website. If you are worried about 'extra dirt', read my post "Oil sample with K&N" in the 1st. gen forum. As far as I'm concerned, any extra dirt is coming in from somewhere else besides THROUGH the filter. Jim.

If you want a good cotton gauze typr filter, then get an AMSOIL filter. They are much better, seal like they should and cost half as much. Just do not over oil them! Your wast'n your money on the K&N.

Re:K&N air filter
Waam,
I would suggest the Pro Guard 7 products, they stop the dirt and still increase the air significantly as compared to a standard 4 layer gauze filter. Please understand I don't post this to start a brand war, I have used 4 layers filters and seen the dirt that gets past them, thats why we only use Pro Guard 7 and why I posted the info. FYI!

Not trying to start anything either, just an opinion - that being said I think many people here will agree that a K&N filter is NOT the best choice for a diesel application, they can let a lot of dirt and debris into your turbo. This is especially true in higher than stock Horsepower applications where a LOT more airflow is required.
