Just one more tire question
Looking for a really good winter tire here in MT and I have a set of 18x10 rims that I can us. Not many tires to choose from in that size. I could go for Toyo 33x12.5x18 or cooper stt 35x12.5x18 but I really do not want that wide of a tire. I am looking at BFG 285x65x18 or BFG 305x65x18. The 285 is $244 at costco and would be 32.7in in dia and the 305 is $276 and 33.7in in dia. It seems that most people love a 285 size tire. Would I loose any mpg with the 305? I would have to buy new 17in rims to go with the tires I want, copper stt 285/75/17 on sale now for $215.

My buddy switched to Cooper STT's on his Dirtymax GMC (from all season tires) and lost considerable MPG. They are an awesome looking tire though. Another thing to consider, The same Duramax mentioned above rubs with a 265/75/16 (no kidding, what a joke) so Coopers may be a little taller than another brands 285/75/17. Just a thought.
