Just the facts . . . Part 2
With apologies to Lightman , I used the truck for another trip to Canada this past week. I thought the members might find the comparison of two similar trips taken 9 months apart to be informative.
Trip One (12/20/02 - 1/4/03; 407 miles on odometer at start)
1. Total miles: 3828
2. Total gals: 207
3. Total cost: $318.58
4. MPG: 18.5
5. Avg cost per gal: $1.538
6. Cost per mile: 8.3 cents
Trip Two (8/27/03 - 9/6/03; 21383 miles on odometer at start)
1. Total miles:3645
2. Total gals: 176
3. Total cost: $279.82
4. MPG: 20.7
5. Avg cost per gal: $1.587
6. Cost per mile: 7.7 cents
Note: the actual cost of fuel in Canada, in Canadian dollars, dropped during the year but ended up being more expensive due to the change in the exchange rate (i.e. was $1.639 US per US gallon in 12/04. Is now $1.707 US per US gallon).
