Just Broke 20 Mpg

Filled up today and to my surprise calculated 20.77 mpg.Truck now has 6700 miles and 4.10 gears. Most of my driving has been highway but last tankfull was spent in 4wd about 20% of time.Been using Power Service since Thanksgiving.Fuel here in VT. is at $3.65 a gallon .It cost me $104.00 to fill up (the most I have ever spent at one time for fuel!).Also, the overhead computer was pretty close, it showed 20 mpg which is unusual since it is normally off by 2 mpg. With any luck I hope to increase mileage a little more as the engine breaks in.

Thats great for 4.10's, I can only hope I'll be able to do that as time goes on. The best I have gotten was 17.2, but that was at about 70 - 75 mph all highway, but mine only has 15,8xx on it at the moment. What speed were you cruising at for that mpg?

I was getting between 19.5-20 with my G56 empty @ 65 MPH. Went with 37" tires to lower the RPM. It lowered it alright and so as the MPG to just 17.5. I expected that but I am happy with 17.5.

Smile Mileage

When i First got my 06 I was so bummed. The guys on the board were talking about 19-20 MPG. I was lucky to hit 15. Now that the truck has 15000 on the clock I'm getting 19.2 MPG and 13-13.5 Towing 14000 lb fifth wheel . My dad has a Ford and is lucky to hit 9 towing . Got to love the little 6 that could!!!

You guys are getting WAY better mileage than what I'm seeing in my rig.

I don't know why mine is so low. 15-16 is pretty common for me.

Definitely it is running a little faster than effecient, 70-75 MPH most of the time, but still. I'm dissapointed in the mileage.

My 2005 is getting 18 to 19.5, but the computer says I am getting 24 to 26! This way better than my 2002 so I am very pleased with my new to me truck.

That's pretty good speed for the kind of mileage, being that it's almost 2k on the tach.

Filled up last night with 35.9 gallons on 809.3 miles. 22.5mpg. My overhead was telling me 25.0 but its been way off for the past several months for some reason. Usually it was within a mile of hand calc. At one point my overhead showed that I might get about 870 to this tank but that last 1/4 tank drops pretty quick.

Well, no matter how I look at it, It's better then my 73 LTD, that car got 12 MPG during the first embargo. I was in the Navy back then. I mounted a gas tank from a fifty two ford pick-up in the trunk, 100 gallon total. On the even days I'd fill her up at the un-godly price of Of I think it was $1.55 a gallon! and head home for a weekend visit with the folks. There was a guy in my unit, his name was Denaso, I agreed to drop him off in new york on my way to CT. Well we were about out of gas, We stopped at a station in NJ and they refused to fill me up as it was the wrong day. Joe got out of the car went to the attendent booth and had a few words with him. The white faced attendent came back and filled me up. I asked joe what he said, He told me that he simply told the attendent that we needed gas and if he didnt believe us he should call his uncle in New York! LOL Ok sorry for going back in time. If hillery has her way we all may relive those days only the gas wont be $1.55 a gallon!!!!

I suppose we should enjoy the days of ($3.65 diesel here in VT.)because the Chinese are buying as much crude oil as can be produced which is driving up the price here in the USA.I bet 20 years from now the highways here will be crowded with 4 cyl. Kias.

I really hate to say it but we are bringing it on ourselves, We know there is oil off the coast, but WE can't drill for it. China is working with Cuba to drill between Cuba and Key west FL. we can stand on American soil and watch China pump oil, but our politco's say we cant, there may be a major spill. Better safe then sorry, let China do it. All the while we give our oil dollars to those that would rather see us dead.
I don't know how long it will take or how much pain will be inflected on us before we wake up and tell our rep's that they better get on the stick and DRILL DRILL DRILL.

Did a 2800 mile round trip to TX 2 weeks ago pulling a Toy Camry on a towbar and got 20.4 down and 22.6 coming back without the Toy for 21.5 avg. for the 2800 miles. Kept my speed at the posted limits which was everything from 50 to 75; some 80 mph stretches but I stayed about 5 under on those stretches. The truck has 26k on it.
