BEFORE YOU START IT!
- Tab the KDP
First Things To Do:
- Change the oil
- Check coolant freeze point - change if needed
- Change diff. (front and rear) fluid
- Change tranny fluid
- Check all fluids
Next:
- Turn that thing up and have some fun!

what he said, all of it then get the truck to breathe better, bigger proper air filter, gauges are a must, a boost elbow to make more boost, 30 to 35 psi is great, 4 or 5 inch exhaust system, then maybe an exhaust manifold, 3000 rpm spring kit, then a vulcan steering box stabilizer, ck all your tie rod ends, ball joints, track bar for looseness, shock bolts etc. that should keep you busy for a little while anyways. Oh and check the front spring perches, that year and before had a tendency to crack them, there was a recall on that, and congrats, nice truck for ya.

You need to open up your exhaust - (cheap route) - cut the hot water tank (muffler and resonator/cat) out and replace with a long section of 3" pipe.
Get pyro and boost gauges - seriously, don't put this off - peace of mind.
Order a plate off of ebay - there is a guy that sells #10 plates real cheap, and from what I've heard, they are very good.
You might start to slip your clutch with a #10 - if you don't want that much power, there is a #12 - but I think you'll be fine with a #10.
Make sure you get a boost elbow - increase your boost MAX to 38PSI.
Don't be scared of installing the #10 like I was - it took about 6 months and a bunch of members offering much help before I took the challenge and went in. I'm no mechanic, but this installation was easy - the hardest part was the break off screw.
If I were you, I'd put the new plate in the SAME location it came out of.
Drive it around for a while and get used to your new found power - you will be VERY impressed.
You don't need an intake right now, but it wouldn't hurt.
Then a set of sticks (75HP)
And any other fueling mods will require an intake and turbo upgrade.

I paid $200 for mine.
I heard those are good.
Save yourself some money.
