Just bought an 03 3500 - have a question

I just picked up a 2003 4x4 HO 6spd 3500 SRW truck.

I noticed that the front U-joints have some play in them, and that the prop shaft has had the U-Joint at the tranny replaced already. Are these U-joints covered under warranty? Do they typically wear out - or did the previous owner just use 4x4 on dry pavement alot??

I think my first mod will be a set of bigger tires - the 4.10's are Killing me!

No, the U-joints are not covered under warranty. Yes the stock U-joints fail. I had 2 of th 3 on my rear driveshaft fail.

I haven't had any problems with mine but I did have to get the transfer case seal replaced under warranty. The big tires will make the truck look much better..

Congrats on the purchase......

thanks Dodgezilla, I'm looking at some BFG 315-70-17's.

I should have clarified....The front outter U joints at the wheel hubs are the ones with the play in them. The rear prop shaft coming out of the transfer case has had it's U-joint replaced already.
