J.R. Adkins twins

Would like to start out by saying thanks to J.R. Adkins for installing my new twins. We used an HX-40 and HT4C on bottom with a 50mm wastegate dumping the gases into the 4C. Very clean setup, all the welds have been ground down so you don't seen any seems. I've got some tuning to do on the wastegate. We used the big wastegate so we can drive the big charger hard. Didn't really have enough fuel at the time to try and drive the big charger but J.R. took care of that problem to with a set of his injectors. Hopefully get them installed after the holiday weekend and then its time for some fun Should have some pictures to post in a couple of days and some numbers after I get the injectors installed. I highly recommend giving J.R. a call if anyone needs some more HP.

Thanks, hopefully get this thing dialed in pretty soon and get it on the dyno to see what it can do.

I am in the process of installing mine this weekend, the top turbo I am unsure of what it is and the bottom is an ht60, I am also rebuilding the engine and that is what is taking so long. hopefully have done and pics this weekend. I also have the 50mm wastegate and will have some tuning to do. I do have enough fuel and am really looking forward to using all of it

acdc,
Let us know how that setup runs. I believe your top charger is J.R.s new Schwitzer turbo. That setup should scream.

Cool. That's ballpark of what I'm getting from J.R. as well. How does yours do at WOT? still a bit smokey or can the twins clean up that much fuel?
(I guess that depends where the plate is at...)

Here's a pic of J.R.'s twins on my 24v. The Baby twins....

Haven't had the chance to do a lot of testing yet. I need to change the injectors to a little bit bigger ones to be able to deliever that amount of fuel. It looks like it will be another week or so before I'm able to swap the new ones in. I'll let you know what I find out when I get the other ones in.

I was just wondering what it costs to run this twin turbo setup like that? I am getting a manual 24 valve in the near future with a goal of having about 500hp. I know it is a pretty lofty goal but I would love to really smoke some 5.0 mustangs anyway the truck is going to be my commuter and I don’t really want to compromise that but I have read that the twin setup is quite abet more street worthy than a single turbo running that power with the EGT getting that hot and all. Also besides doing the clutch will I need to run some billet stuff in a manual also? Thanks

5 or 6 speed?

The 5-speed benefits from a larger "6-speed" sized intput shaft, but my truck was handling 546rwhp on the "5-speed" sized input shaft.

Besides the clutch, my drivetrain is all stock, from Flywheel, to rims, it's all OE.

I've messed with the motor, but only because of my curiousity, and "it was there", LOL. you can do alot to a motor once it's torn down...

500RWHP?

Mad ECM, Mach 5.0 injectors, a FASS pump (not the whole filter unit), HX-40/16-HT3B twin combo, head studs, and you should be good to go.

You could opt to pull the head and put o-rings, but that's your option. (Safer, but takes more $$)

Or trade the Mad ECM for an Edge Comp. (Or stack the Mad ECM with an Edge EZ)

As far a the chip i was going to run a reflashed computer and the TST power max to gether but i would like to learn more about this mad ECM. Also How many psi of bost does that twin setup produce and will i need to throw down some extra $$$ to keep me from being straded? you know i was thinking i might as well do the head gasket whin i do the head studs right? just wondering how much psi can i run with head studs and a o-ring head gasket or should i run the marin head gasket, what are the diffrences? O and thanks Merrick

What's up with the reflashed computer you are talking about?

If it's like the Mad ECM, then the TST will stack fine, just be carefull with running too much timing as to much timing is possible with a 24V. It burns up the injection pump. (The TST box does not have added timing)

With head studs, and the original gasket, you should be able to withstand about 60PSI of boost. At 500RWHP, you will want atleast 65-70PSI to keep things cool, but you can still make 500RWHP at 60PSI, but it might be smokey and hot. (The overall boost from 60-70PSI will be minor adjustments of your wastegate.)

You will only need teh headstuds to handle ~60PSI. Those run roughly $400, and the head does not need removed to install the head studs.

The Mad ECM is a modified ECM tuned overseas for our trucks. It has improved throttle response, and better top-end power. Also has tuning for better MPG, and programming so the ECM will not see "overboost" and de-fuel.
