Isspro Gauges Or Di Pricol

Hey guys I am getting ready to add some gauges to my truck. I am planning on buying ISSPRO brand gauges. Anybody, have any strong opinions for or against ISSPRO Brand? I have been on the Diesel Manor website and they have a kit. The kit includes gauges, mounting, wiring, etc. I am planning on mounting in the overhead console area. Hopefully, everything that I would need will be in that kit. I know I need a Pyro, and Boost guage. Do I need a 3rd gauge? I was thinking about the Fuel Pressure Gauge. My plans are to install these gauges and then buy a SMARTY. From what I am reading; most of the performance boxes or programmers can run the rail out of fuel at the higher settings. Therefore, I was thinking with the Fuel pressure gauge I could monitor when I am closing in on the limits of my factory fuel system. Is it better to monitor the Rail Fuel Pressure or the Feed Line Fuel Pressure? Or both?

I have had my ISSPRO gauges for over a year and love them. You could add the fuel pressure gauge because you don't have the auto and don't need a tranny temp gauge. They match the stock lighting perfectly at night.

Hey there Chopper Bob.

I have the Isspro PYRO, BOOST and FUEL PRESSURE gauges and I am very pleased with them. I mounted mine on the a-pillar primarily because the fuel pressure required liquid and if it were to leak that area might be a better place to deal with it. I also have a Di Pricol rail pressure gauge that I mounted in a bullet pod along the side of the a-pillar next to the bottm gauge on the lh side, it fits there nicely and is out of the way. I installed all 4 of the gauges because I fel this would cover all of the bases for good monitoring.

I chose to monitor both the fuel pressure and rail pressure because both provide information in what could be considered two separate areas of the same system. The fuel pressure gauge will give you information relative to your in-tank pump to the CP3 performance. The rail pressure will give you information relative to the output performance of the CP3 and rail system. Having them both will help you in determining which side of the CP3 is doing what, aiding in a fuel system diagnosis if you are having a problem. So, each has it's place in the whole picture. I decided to install them both because their information combined seemed to me to be the best of both worlds.

You will also note, by my sig, that I have a Smarty and the Quad STD. I got the Smarty primarily to adjust the speedo for my tires and have yet to install it -got to get the right tire size info to program them in. I will probably just put the Smarty on the 60 hp setting without timing and use the Quad for adjustability on the fly.

I have the same isspro kit you're talking about. Went well and everything is included. Highly recommend there kit. And the fuel pres gauge is nice to make sure you dont suck the fuel system dry. Which I can on a mostly stock 06 with a quad xzt if i stay in it to long.

Got mine from Diesel Manor last week, got DiPricol's though, think they match better but cost a little more. Also have a standard so got fuel pressure gauge. Haven't put them in yet...

I just got off of the phone with Diesel Manor. It sounds like my only decision is whether to buy ISSPRO or DiPricol? DiPricol is more expensive by $100. They offer LED as opposed to an incandecent bulb. Other than that I don't know if one is better than the other. It sounds like a lot of you guys are running the ISSPRO's and like them. Unless someone can give me a good reason to choose the DiPricol's I think that I will go with the ISSPRO.

The way the pointer thingy fits into the centre hootie of the gauge matches better on the DiPricols I think, and they look better at night.
For that I paid the extra $100, but thats just me. Isspro's seem to be more popular.

Question for you is are you going to get an isolator?
Do a search on isolators, I ordered my kit without one.

Yes, I plan on getting the isolator. I am putting the gauges up in the overhead console. I don't want to risk a loose connection and diesel all over the cab. I have heard of people using the isolator and not getting correct readings though? I will look into this further. Those of you running a fuel isolator...Have any of you had one that seems to work fine?

Fisherguy,
I cut and pasted the two brands of gauges into a word document so I could compare the two gauges side by side. I would have to say that you are right. The DiPricol gauges look a lot more like the factory Gauges. Thanks for your input.

I have Boost/Pyro/Fuel gauges also. I first mounted them between the rear view mirror and the overhead. Its an awsome location, just natural as you look into your rear view mirror all the time anyway. I went on a 10k mile trip with the gauges there with no issues, up to Coldfoot Alaska and back. Lots of unpaved traveling in the Spring thaw.

A couple of months after I returned home we had a bit of heat, ran up to 104* or so, and the gauge pod began slipping off the windshield. I had to reclean the area and remount the pod but that didn't last too long either, again because of the heat.

I ended up with an A-Pilar mount. Just food for thought.

Oh, and on the isolator, make sure it and the tubing is bled of all the air and it will give you no issues. Search on this site and you will find good methods of doing this. Good luck and have fun.

gauges

I just ordered my kit from Diesel Manor just as you are looking at. I got the ISSPRO's with the 3 gauge overhead mount. I wanted the Boost (0-60), EGT, and fuel pressure but the only mfg to offer an electrical FP gauge is Autometer and they don't match the stock gauges. After speaking with David(?) at Diesel Manor for a while about my options, he said that they have been working with ISSPRO on development of new gauges and they are supposed to come out with an electric FP gauge in the near future! So for now I just got the EGT and Boost gauges with the 3 gauge pod. I may make a blank for the hole for the time being till the FP is available. Once the electric FP gauge comes out then I'll add it to the set. Although I'm sure there are lots of "I've never had any problems with my FP gauge" posts, the bottom line for me was that I really didn't feel comfortable running fuel (or any other liquid) to my overhead and I've read all sorts of mixed opinions on the issolator (do a search). So I'm just going to wait for what I really want to come out cause some things are just worth waiting for.

As for the ISSPRO vs DiPricol debate. I went with the ISSPRO's for a couple of reasons. They are VERY close to the stock gauges even though I admit the DiPricol's are a bit closer. Since these will be on the overhead it won't be like they are standing side by side with the stock gauges for anyone other than you to notice. They are over $100 cheaper than the DiPricol's. The guy at DM said that they have been having some issues with light leaking out around the base of the needle on the DP's. They also said that there would be a very slight difference in brightness on the ISSPRO gauges between the EGT and Boost as one gauge has one large incandescent bulb and the other has 2 smaller incandescent bulbs. There are supposedly instructions to remedy this which involves a couple of black lines on the bulb with a sharpie marker.

DieselManor's kit for the overhead mount adds a few $$'s but this is because you will need the 14' boost line and a 90* fitting for it to reach. They also include the boost bolt. I should be recieving my kit this week (next day or so). We'll see if everything is as it should be.

Hope this helps!

No problem. I figured I have a ton of money invested in the thing, paying an extra 100 bucks is not gonna kill me!

Chopper Bob, there's tons of info on this site, using the search function you can find answers to just about everything you can think of. Some people on here spend big big bucks on their trucks, we can all learn from them!
