Smile Irritating tranny problem fixed but........

I've had a problem with my trans going through the gears too quickly for some time now. It did not do this when it was new. Well, nobody seemed to be able to fix it or give me any insight. It was to the point where I had to adjust my throttle valve cable all the way back just to get a decent shift pattern but it was still too quick. My DTT valve body helped but still problem there. One day I was mad about it so I decided to shift manually through the gears. As I shifted into 3rd I didn't go all the way into the 3rd gear detent but I was far enough in that the selector said it was in. At the next light I forgot to shift manually and I was amazed to find that it was going through the gears much better but now it was taking too long to shift. I adjusted my throttle cable back to around where it was when new and it shifts perfectly. I am so daggone happy now!! This was the only thing I did not like about my truck.
Now, the problem is that the only way to make the trans shift right is to go from Park down to 2nd and then ease the lever into 3rd without going all the way into the detent. If I go into the detent all the way it will be in OD before I reach 25 mph!! I've tried bending the shift cable bracket, by lightly tapping on it with a hammer so the lever will be in the correct position when I drop down from Park, but then it screws all the other gears up and won't go into park. I think I may need a new shift cable but I can't imagine how it could have gotten stretched or damaged.
Anyways, I now feel how a properly shifting trans feels with my upgrades and it's sweet!!! If I have to keep doing what I'm doing now so be it but I'm still trying to find a fix.....

You'll have to train again every so often. It'll re-learn it's evil ways.

When I bought my '03 the salesman said it was a learner. When it started shrewing up the service writer said it learns and get confused. He said to disconnect the batteries for a few minutes, reconnect, turn the key on and slowly push the loud peddle from idle to full throttle and back, turn the key off. Then crank it up and give it a couple of full throttle launches when I could. I did that and it worked but would eventually start shifting from 1st to 3rd with a bump through second in the process. If it wasn't learning it was doing something. After a couple of times doing that, when it started acting up, I'd skip the battery trick and just give it a couple of full throttle launches. It seemed to work for a few weeks when I'd do that. What ever it was doing, it was annoying.
