I have finally got some cash to play with now and while my truck is going to apart for a while I want to get the pump worked over. Ok I have no idea how p pumps work, I cant ever find any info on the net or here and I dont want to get screwed. I am starting off with my 160 pump, what needs to be replaced and done to it to make it flow more cc's? I want to make more than 600hp at the wheels. Any advice or info would be appreciated.

Talk to piers. For some reason, my mind keeps telling me that they base their stoopid pump off of the 160.

I'll have to check to see what my stupid pump is based on, but I thought they were based on a 215, but that's what I was going to suggest to is calling PDR and seeing what they can fab up for you.

Theres some guy on ebay advertising 215 reman pumps for like 900$. Places like BD power seem to want like 1200 for a reman, so it sounds good.
You can get a 300hp pump from them and I think the pricetag was about 1500. Piers has some stuff too but theyre not cheap by any means. If I was doing something serious with the truck Id look into it though.

See that's what I thought but something in my brain keeps triggering 160. I dunno. Maybe it's cause I haven't flooded it out with a cold beverage yet.

From what I have read is they use a 160 and change it to a 215 because the 160 is cheaper and easier to come by.

I have heard the rumor of 160 stoopid pump, but i called and talked to harry and he said that they base it off of the 180 and 215, because they have the good cam in them.

That's what I think to. I'm pretty sure mine was a 215. Blue you changed avater on me I don't reconize it anymore.

the smaller pumps are actually better to "build" than 215's. there's a recent post about it on tdr

We had a few questions in on this to Piers. Here is his reply word for word..

the camshaft on a 215hp pump has a much better profile than the 160hp model. We use the 160hp pump for hypo pumps because we can get them cheap, throw out most of the internals, grind the cam to a different profile add in some 13mm plungers & barrells, etc.

anybody can buy the 13mm P&B's. Your camshaft can be reground. It does not change the lift, rather the "fill" time, so you have a chance at actually filling the P&B's at high rpm's. Average tools, no, not really, although it could be done, I would advise you to have a pump shop do it for you. 13mm P&B's, $120.00 a pop, grind cam is $475.00....there's a lot of meat to come off a 160hp cam.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to spend under 1500 bucks on a build. Just sold the engine from my challenger so I have some play money now.
